The inspiration for this series comes from quick sketches I make while looking at the window on an Amtrak train between my home in Wilmington, Delaware and New York City. I make a day trip to the city when I can to see gallery and museum shows and collect sketches during the ride. I chose to create this ongoing series on paper because the surface seemed to speak to the immediacy of the sketches I made and the less descriptive nature of a sketch versus a reference photograph.
